During the 90 minute final presidential debate, Republican John McCain spoke of his support towards the Free Trade Agreement with Colombia and invited Democratic candidate, Barack Obama, to visit the country.
Obama opposes the FTA with Colombia claiming that it is first necessary to eradicate violence against union members.
According to some experts, if Barack Obama is elected President of the United States, it will be less likely for Colombia to receive North American support.
