Minister of Justice and the Interior of Venezuela, Ramón Rodríguez Chacín, announced his resignation citing "personal reasons"and reported that the current Vice Minister of Citizen Security, Tarek El Aissami will be left in charge of the Ministry.
Rodríguez Chacín, who took over the Ministry at the end of last year as he was coordinating the rescue of a group of hostages held by Farc, said to the press that "for strictly personal reasons I have left my position open".
Rodríguez Chacín is a former Navy captain and worked closely with President Hugo Chavez.
